Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, has said the state government was the first in the federation to implement the Federal Government approved minimum wage.

He also debunked what he described as the propaganda of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on minimum wage in the state’s civil service and described as untrue, the allegation that Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, the AllProgressives Congress (APC) flag bearer in the April 11 governorship election in the state, was sacked from the state Public Service.

According to him, “He (Ambode) retired voluntarily after 27 years of meritorious service”.

Fashola alleged that ahead of the governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state next Saturday, the candidate of the PDP, Mr. Jimi Agbaje, placed posters around the state secretariat, Alausa, promising to implement the National Minimum Wage and pay leave allowances to public servants if voted in.

A statement by the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mr. Hakeem Bello, explained that the administration of Fashola was not only the first to implement the minimum wagebut also added to the N18, 000 minimum wage across board.
