Hiddink to take over at Chelsea after Mourinho departs – Reports

Guus Hiddink is set to take over as caretaker manager at Chelsea after Jose Mourinho was sacked with the club one point above the relegation zone, reports suggest.

Mourinho was sacked by the club on Thursday afternoonafter club officials met to discuss his future following the 2-1 defeat to Leicester City on Monday.

According to theDaily Telegraph,former Holland and Russia boss Hiddink has agreed to return to Chelsea, having also taken charge after Luiz Felipe Scolari was sacked in 2009.

On that occasion Hiddink managed to guide the side to an FA Cup triumph, beating Everton 2-1 in the final.

However, the 69-year-old faces a much tougher task this time around, with the Blues 20 points behind league leaders Leicester City and 14 points off the top four.

Furthermore, he will also be tasked with uniting adressing room which is believed to have revolted under Mourinho, amid speculation one member of the squadleaked the team to Porto ahead of a Champions League clash last week.
